May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Job Description

Position Title Kindergarten Teacher Position Purpose Horizon Science Academy Des Moines is a public charter school in Des Moines, Iowa. We are looking for a dedicated elementary teacher to fill a kindergarten classroom teacher opening for the 2026-2027 school year. Our STEM-focused charter school serves Kindergarten through 6th grade. This will be our fourth year open, and we continue to make strides to offer Parent Choice and give students a positive school experience. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging STEM curricula for students Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment Build strong relationships with students to support their academic and personal growth Collaborate with colleagues to enhance educational programs Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress Meet with grade level teams and staff to review data and plan for instruction Desired Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field Valid Iowa teaching certification Experience in elementary education, preferably in a STEM setting Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on relationship-building Commitment to fostering connections within the school community Passion for integrating STEM concepts into the curriculum If you are enthusiastic about inspiring young minds and contributing to a dynamic educational environment, we encourage you to apply.
