Job Description

Position Purpose The Elementary Teacher is responsible for creating a positive, engaging, and student-centered classroom environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth of all students. The teacher will provide high-quality instruction aligned to Iowa Core Standards while fostering strong relationships with students, families, staff, and the community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan and deliver effective instruction in core academic subject areas aligned to Iowa Core Standards and district curriculum. Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and learning. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students. Utilize assessment data, progress monitoring, and classroom observations to guide instruction and interventions. Implement district instructional practices, PBIS expectations, MTSS supports, and educational technology effectively. Establish clear classroom routines, procedures, and expectations to maximize instructional time and student success. Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education staff, interventionists, instructional coaches, and administration to support student achievement. Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, classroom expectations, and school activities. Participate in professional development opportunities and ongoing school improvement efforts. Maintain accurate student records, attendance, grades, and other required documentation. Supervise students during assigned duties, activities, field trips, and school events. Support and uphold district policies, procedures, and professional expectations. Build positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community members. Perform other duties as assigned by administration. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field. Valid Iowa teaching license with appropriate elementary endorsement. Knowledge of Iowa Core Standards, effective instructional practices, and child development. Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families. Commitment to continuous improvement and student success. Preferred Qualifications Experience with elementary literacy and math instruction. Knowledge and experience with PBIS, MTSS, intervention strategies, and data-driven instruction. Experience integrating technology into classroom instruction. CPR/First Aid certification preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the classroom and school environment for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and carry classroom materials and supplies as needed. Ability to supervise students in a variety of school settings and activities. Terms of Employment Contract days, salary, and benefits established by the negotiated agreement and district policies. Evaluation Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with district policies and the Iowa Teaching Standards.
