Momence Community Unit School District 1 Elementary Teacher Job Description MUCSD 1 is seeking a First Grade teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.

Qualifications:

Valid Illinois PEL in elementary grades Able to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan collaboratively. Strong supervisory and classroom management skills.

Essential Job Functions and Key Responsibilities:

Plan and Deliver Instruction Develop and implement engaging, standards-based lesson plans that promote active learning and align with the school's curriculum and academic goals. Classroom Management Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment that fosters positive student behavior and supports academic success. Assess and Monitor Student Progress Evaluate student learning through formative and summative assessments; analyze data to inform instruction and provide targeted support. Differentiate Instruction Modify teaching strategies and materials to meet the diverse learning needs, abilities, and interests of all students, including those with IEPs, 504 plans, and English language learners. Build Positive Relationships Foster strong relationships with students, families, colleagues, and administrators to support a collaborative and inclusive school community. Communicate Effectively Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school events through conferences, reports, and digital platforms. Professional Responsibilities Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide activities; adhere to school policies, procedures, and professional ethical standards. Create a Positive Learning Environment Promote social-emotional learning and student well-being by modeling respect, empathy, and responsibility in the classroom. Technology Integration Utilize technology tools to enhance instruction, engage students, and support learning and assessment. Collaborate with Colleagues Work as part of a grade-level or subject team to plan lessons, analyze data, and implement best practices for student achievement. Flexible and Adaptive Adjust to changes in schedules, programming, and fulfill other responsibilities assigned as they arise.

Terms of Employment:

Full Time Kindergarten teacher Salary range is $42,020-84,799 based on the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement
