An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Job Description
Maize is home to five incredible elementary schools (K-4) and two modern intermediate (5-6) schools. There may be teaching opportunities beginning in January and with many more opportunities for the 2026-27 school year. Maize has a lot to offer teachers new to the district and those new to the profession. All new teachers are matched with a qualified mentor and both the mentor and mentee are supported by our team of Student Support Specialists and Instructional Coaches. New teachers also participate in 8 half day professional development opportunities throughout the school year. Our teachers are encouraged to continue to learn and grow. Professional learning days are well planned and cover relevant and timely topics. We also offer a professional learning series that qualifies for college credits and tuition reimbursement for a Master's degree. Safe and well-maintained facilities are another great feature found in the Maize district. Through partnership with the Maize Police Department, we have Resource Officers at many of our schools and have invested in enhanced security features.
