An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Organization Details Organization Information The Madison County School District serves more than 11,500 students in pre-K through 12th grade. The district operates an alternative school, day treatment center and a secondary GED program in addition to 11 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, 2 high schools, and 2 career academies. The district has 12 family resource/youth service centers that serve students and families. We are continually working to improve the instructional practices and offer every student a greater opportunity to learn and excel scholastically.
