SUMMARY:
Foresty Ave Elementary School is seeking a Long Term Sub Grade 1 teacher effective early September 2026 through approximately mid December 2026. This position will provide direct instruction to students in First Grade, in alignment with Hudson Public Schools' commitment to: High expectations for student achievement, Equal access to rigorous instruction, Academic proficiency for all students, and Closing the achievement gap among student subgroups.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Introduce children to mathematics, language, science, and social studies: use games, music, artwork, films, books, computers, and other tools to teach basic skills. Teach letter recognition, phonics, numbers, and awareness of nature and science Researching and creating instruction that supports the development of the cognitive, emotional, social, and physical growth of the child Maintaining communication that supports an understanding of the school's program, develops positive relationships with the school community, and protects the privacy and confidentiality of each student and family in the school community. Participating in Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences each trimester and communicating regularly with families about academic, social, and developmental issues Building and maintaining strong school culture centered on achievement: Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served. Implementing common academic and behavioral procedures to ensure a structured, respectful, and achievement-oriented school: create a learning environment that is safe and nurturing.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required Massachusetts DESE license preferred Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI), and fingerprints
Terms of Employment:
  • 6.5 hours/day
  • temporary employment
  • Eligible for Benefits & Insurance after 90 days.
Pay Scale:
  • Unlicesended Long Term Subs = $23.85/hour
  • Licensed Long Term Subs = $ 46.08/hour
  • $61.
94/hour. Licensed Long Term Subs will be placed accordingly within this range dependent upon years of experience and degrees. The employee will have also have ample periods of standing and may be required to traverse throughout the building. The employee must frequently use hands and frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., calculator, copy machine, and computer printer). Physical abilities may also include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field. Ability must be able to lift and/or push and pull 15 to 20lbs for short periods, and walk up and down stairs several times a day. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff members, and the public in person and on the telephone.
