Position Summary:
We envision that the Bruce School community ensures the lived experiences and identities of students, staff and families are seen and celebrated. We believe inclusion, equity, and empowerment drive growth and achievement. Our pedagogy will elevate both emotional and academic learning, and will be responsive to data, individual strengths, and community needs. Multilingual Learning teachers are expected to manage a caseload of students. Responsibilities include; push-in and pull-out instruction, case management, attending meetings, advocating for students, and partnering with families. Teachers at the Bruce School are expected to meet the needs of all students through relationship building, inclusive practices, strategic use of assessment data, and team collaboration. The Bruce School seeks teachers who have experience working with Multilingual Learners and students with learning differences.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver small-group pull-out instruction
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide push-in academic support
  • Develop age-appropriate, cognitively aligned lessons based on formative assessments
  • Use data to develop and refine targeted intervention groups
  • Establish a safe, culturally responsive classroom environment that supports risk-taking and collaboration
  • Employ SEI strategies to promote English language development across content areas
  • Promote student ownership of learning through engagement and collaborative tasks
  • Identify and integrate supplemental resources to support language and content access
  • Participate in IEP, 504, and RtII meetings as needed
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records in accordance with policies and regulations
  • Partner with families to strengthen home-school communication and involvement
  • Participate in weekly content planning, coaching, and ongoing professional learning
  • Attend and contribute to school-wide family engagement events and outreach initiatives
  • Collaborate with other MLL teachers and instructional leaders to improve student outcomes
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of second language acquisition and SEI best practices
  • Ability to develop and differentiate instruction for multilingual learners
  • Strong collaboration and co-teaching skills
  • Understanding of culturally responsive and trauma-sensitive pedagogy
  • Ability to plan and implement standards-based, student-centered instruction
  • Effective data use for planning and progress monitoring
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, families, and colleagues
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and recordkeeping
  • Commitment to equity and access in public education
