Lawrence Family Public Academy (LFPA) is seeking a Kindergarten teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a full-time, permanent position. The ideal candidate believes all students are capable of learning and demonstrates a commitment to inclusive practices and collaborative planning. Experience with co-teaching and working in inclusive classroom settings is highly recommended.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Teach core content classes in a self-contained classroom/homeroom, including ELA, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to meet the needs of each student
- Attend and actively engage in grade-level and content vertical planning meetings
- Participate in IEP, 504, student support, and team meetings as required
- Establish and maintain effective collaboration and ongoing communication with grade-level paraprofessionals
- Participate in school events such as curriculum night, report card nights, and family engagement opportunities
- Use assessment data to inform instruction and support student learning growth
- Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress and classroom activities
- Engage in ongoing professional development and reflective practice
- Support and uphold school policies, values, and goals
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, is age-appropriate and considers the interests of the students using a variety of instruction strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, hands-on and play-based learning, discovery/center-based learning, etc.
- Uses relationship building as the foundation for behavior management and utilizes restorative practices to address behavior concerns
- Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator in fulfilling teacher evaluation procedures
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of early childhood development and best instructional practices
- Familiarity with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in using instructional technology
- Cultural competency and commitment to serving a diverse student population
- Capacity to work collaboratively with administrators, colleagues, families, and support staff
- Willingness to reflect on practice and implement feedback
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
- Valid Massachusetts DESE Early Childhood (PreK-2) teaching license
- SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) endorsement required
- Experience teaching in urban public school settings preferred
- Successful completion of all pre-employment requirements
