POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Instructional Supervisor for Elementary Mathematics, the Resource Teacher provides support to the mathematics program by revising the curriculum to reflect the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. The Resource Teacher provides assistance to classroom teachers to accurately implement the mathematics program in assigned elementary schools. The Resource Teacher provides additional instructional supports, including unit assessments, in accordance with the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics goals and concepts. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reviews county data for secondary mathematics and provides classroom support to teachers in the form of collaboration, planning, co-teaching and/or coaching; Provides feedback to classroom teachers that supports delivery of effective mathematics instruction; Facilitates professional development with focus on mathematics content and pedagogy for Grades K-5; Facilitates Count on Us; Encourages schools to utilize data to make sound decisions for students and to differentiate instruction; Provides modeling and strategies for optimum teaching delivery and student results; Attends professional meetings and facilitates follow-up sessions with assigned teachers; Serves as a liaison to Regional and Central Offices with respect to Mathematics; Writes reports, maintains required records and follows required procedures and practices; and Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS
: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Knowledge of the Grades K-5 mathematics curriculum and current best practices; Knowledge of Common Core State Standards, and assessments, as well as current Maryland College and Career Ready Standards; Knowledge of intervention strategies, goals and objectives of the curriculum; Knowledge of teaching techniques, current trends, research, and materials of instruction; Knowledge and understanding of the teaching and learning processes; In-depth knowledge of processes, acquisition, assessment, and instruction, intervention strategies, goals and objectives of the curriculum, teaching techniques, current trends, research, and materials of instruction; Demonstrated competence in developing and leading staff development sessions for a variety of audiences; Strong coaching skills and ability to collaborate with others; Ability to demonstrate competency in developing and leading staff development sessions for a variety of audiences; Ability to collaborate with others with strong coaching skills; Ability to work effectively with administration, colleagues, central office staff, students, parents and community; and Excellent oral and communication skills.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
: Bachelors Degree (Masters Degree preferred) from a regionally accredited college or university and five (5) years of successful teaching experience.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Elementary Mathematics Certification and Advanced Professional Certificate appropriate to area of assignment issued by the Maryland State Department of Education.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
