An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

McGlinnen Elementary School Description Open Position:

RESOURCE ROOM TEACHER
  • McGlinnen Elementary School SUMMARY Looking for a dynamic teacher who will be responsible for working with special needs students such as those who have learning, physical, emotional or mental disabilities or challenges in an elementary resource room setting.
COMPENSATION
The compensation is outlined in the 2025-2028 CEA collective bargaining master agreement.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES and
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assess individual students to determine the most appropriate teaching strategies and develop a teaching plan, (Individual Development Plan
  • IDP).
Communicates with parents to discuss student progress Participates in curriculum development programs as required Attends staff meetings as required by the Building Principal Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal and Director of Special Education.
QUALIFICATIONS
Certificate, license or other legal credential required Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may deem appropriate and acceptable
