Position Overview:

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Upper Elementary Teacher for a middle school classroom that is part of our 5th - 8th grade MS team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with at-risk students and an understanding of the science of reading , differentiated instruction, and data-driven teaching practices. WCAA has expanded to include 8th grade at the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction in ELA and writing , or Math Use the i-Ready program for literacy and math instruction, progress monitoring, and student interventions Develop and implement standards-aligned lesson plans that reflect students' needs and interests Assess student progress using formal and informal assessments; analyze data to guide instruction Provide individualized and small-group instruction to support academic growth Create a positive, inclusive, and trauma-informed classroom culture Collaborate with colleagues, interventionists, and support staff to ensure whole-child success Implement and reinforce behavior support strategies using CHAMPS and PBIS frameworks Communicate regularly with families to build partnerships that support learning Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP or intervention meetings as needed

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, or a related field Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate Familiarity with i-Ready assessments and instructional tools Experience working with diverse populations, including at-risk and underserved students Strong classroom management skills and a student-centered mindset

Preferred:

Master's degree in Education Knowledge of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), SEL, and trauma-informed practices Experience in an urban or charter school setting
