Resource Room Teacher•Page Elementary & Middle School Grades 4th•8th
Job Summary:
The Resource Room teacher provides specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The teacher collaborates with general education staff, parents, and support personnel to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations, modifications, and interventions that promote academic achievement, independence, and post-secondary success.
Qualifications:
State of MI teacher certificate with an endorsement in special education. Learning Disabilities Endorsement preferred. Middle School experience preferred. Ability to facilitate an IEP and complete necessary paperwork. Possess an understanding of the state and federal special education rules and regulations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators Ability to foster a positive classroom environment and build strong relationships with students and parents.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide direct specialized instruction to students with disabilities in a resource room setting. Develop and implement instructional strategies aligned with students' IEP goals and objectives. Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of academic and behavioral performance. Collaborate with general education teachers to support student success in inclusive settings. Consult with counselors, psychologists, social workers, and other support staff regarding student needs. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and concerns. Participate in Student Support Team meetings and other problem-solving processes. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices and district initiatives. Attend staff meetings and collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional strategies.
