JOB SUMMARY

All teachers at St. Mary's Catholic School are devoted professionals committed to students growing and succeeding. Teachers are responsible for creating a developmentally appropriate, safe, organized, and joyful classroom environment. Each teacher will utilize current student data to drive academic growth in his/her students. Teachers work collaboratively to support each other and provide a rigorous standards-based curriculum integrated with Catholic values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, prepare, and deliver developmentally appropriate lesson plans based on individual student needs Proctor

testing and use student data to determine instructional needs Teach 4th and 5th grade students in a supportive multi-grade environment. Encourage leadership and peer learning Integrate faith, academics, and character development Carefully monitor student data and plan instruction to meet student needs Obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer email Recent teaching experience, coursework, or other activity in the area of primary instruction Demonstrate knowledge of current instructional strategies appropriate for students at the specified grade level Assume other responsibilities assigned by the school principal

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum B.A/B.S degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field
• Valid Michigan teaching certification with appropriate endorsements
• Must complete state and national background checks and diocesan required VIRTUS training
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
