This role requires a strong understanding of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, as well as the ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of neurodiverse learners. The ideal candidate is a flexible, collaborative educator who can break down complex concepts, foster student engagement, and build strong relationships with students and families. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver differentiated instruction aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study Develop and implement lesson plans that meet diverse academic and learning needs Assess student progress through formal and informal measures and adjust instruction accordingly Provide clear, constructive feedback to students and maintain ongoing communication with families Create a structured, supportive, and engaging classroom environment Integrate social-emotional learning, including the Friends and Feelings™ curriculum, into daily instruction Support students in developing executive functioning, problem-solving, and self-advocacy skills Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and administrators to support student success Utilize technology to enhance instruction and student engagement Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; teaching certification preferred Experience working with neurodiverse learners, including students with ASD or twice-exceptional profiles (preferred) Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and student-centered teaching practices Professional Competencies Demonstrates strong social-emotional competencies, including self-awareness, self-regulation, and relationship skills Maintains a calm, composed, and solution-oriented approach in dynamic or challenging situations Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Demonstrates empathy, patience, flexibility, and a growth mindset Proactive and reflective practitioner committed to continuous improvement
