An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Immediately Job Description River Mill Academy, a public charter school located in Graham, North Carolina is hiring a fourth grade teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. RMA participates in the state health and retirement system while offering free dental coverage. Teachers are paid on the state salary scale with a local 17% supplement, while honoring master's pay. Class sizes are capped at 24 students and classrooms in grades K-3 employ a full-time teacher assistant. Grades 4 and 5 share teacher assistants. RMA was founded as one of the original public schools in the state (1998) and has a strong academic history with minimal behavior disruptions. Our elementary classrooms are self contained and "loop", meaning they stay with the same cohort of students for two consecutive school years.
