Position:
1st Grade Teacher at Sierra Vista Primary School
Summary:
Ruidoso Municipal Schools is seeking a dedicated, student-centered 1st Grade Teacher for Sierra Vista Primary School for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will create a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment where all students are valued, challenged, and supported in their academic, social, and emotional growth.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess or be eligible for a New Mexico Public Education Department Elementary Teaching License.
Preferred qualifications include:
Experience teaching elementary students, especially in early childhood or primary grades.
Strong knowledge of student-centered instructional practices.
Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Knowledge of interventions, progress monitoring, and strategies to close gaps in learning.
Understanding of early literacy, foundational reading skills, math development, and developmentally appropriate practices.
Experience using data to identify student needs and adjust instruction.
Knowledge of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, or PBIS.
Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to work as part of a cooperative and professional team.
Responsibilities:
The 1st Grade Teacher will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction aligned to New Mexico standards while supporting the needs of the whole child.
Responsibilities include:
Plan and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons that support academic growth and confidence.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students needing additional support or enrichment.
Use classroom data, assessments, and observations to identify gaps in learning and provide targeted interventions.
Collaborate with grade-level teams, interventionists, and support staff through Professional Learning Teams to analyze student data and plan responsive instruction.
Create a positive classroom culture that promotes respect, responsibility, independence, and a love of learning.
Implement evidence-based instructional strategies in reading, writing, math, and social-emotional learning.
Maintain strong communication with families regarding student progress, needs, and celebrations.
Support school wide expectations, PBIS practices, and a safe learning environment.
Participate in professional development, staff meetings, PLTs, and school improvement efforts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
