About The Renaissance Charter School The Renaissance Charter School (TRCS) is a community-centered conversion charter school in Queens, NY, serving students from kindergarten through high school. Guided by our mission of academic excellence, equity, and active citizenship, TRCS fosters an inclusive, inquiry-based learning environment where students engage in rigorous discourse, collaborative problem-solving, and real-world connections to prepare them for college, career, and civic life. Position Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated 3rd Grade Teacher to join our Elementary team. The ideal candidate for this position has a background in education, has exceptional communication skills, and a passion for education and fostering an engaging learning environment. This position offers an opportunity to inspire young learners and contribute to their development within a supportive educational setting. Responsibilities Guide and support The Renaissance community in fulfilling its mission and charter goals Establish and maintain positive relationships and constructive interactions with students, families, colleagues and administration Establish and maintain an engaging and organized physical classroom environment, making learning accessible to all students Maximize instruction, safe, and disciplined learning environment in which classrooms values, teaching points, process charts, and student work are clearly displayed Uphold all school policies within the classroom Collaborate with colleagues and coordinators to create rich, integrated units of study Full participation in PLC meetings Adhere to grade level pacing calendars Differentiate instruction in meaningful ways to support student learning Maintain organized records of anecdotal notes and assessments Administer formal and informal assessments throughout the school year Use assessment data to modify unit plans, inform groupings, support student referrals, and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners Appropriately give and receive feedback to/from students, parents, staff and administration Keep families well-informed of student performance and progress Support education through hands-on activities and individualized instruction. Manage classroom behavior effectively, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment Facilitate childhood education activities that promote childhood development and learning Provide feedback and guidance to classroom assistants Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge. Qualifications Valid New York State teaching certification Bachelor's degree in Education, or related field; Master's degree preferred Relevant years of teaching experience, preferably in an urban setting Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues Understanding of Common Core State Standards and evidence-based instructional practices Experience using data to inform instructional decisions and personalize learning for students Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and a belief in the potential of all students Why Join TRCS?
