(Vs - Kindergarten) City and Country School seeks a Lower School Group Teacher (Vs) for the 2026-2027 academic year, beginning in late August 2026. The Lower School Group Teacher reports to the applicable Division Director and is an integral part of the teaching faculty. The Lower School Group Teacher approaches instruction with an interdisciplinary approach, finding authentic ways to connect course materials to student's understandings of social studies. Our Teachers bring warmth, patience, and understanding to the classroom every day, encouraging children to learn and grow. Responsibilities ? Encourage lifelong thinking and exploration for students through various open-ended materials; blocks, paint, clay, paper, wood, sand, and water ? Develop, revise, and teach Lower School Curriculum (Nursery through Second Grade) ? Collaborate with Specials Teachers, Specialists, and Division Director to find ways to integrate instruction with other curricular subjects, namely Social Studies ? Maintain an equitable and inclusive learning environment ? Communicate effectively and establish strong working partnerships with families, students, colleagues, and administrators ? Write reports and conduct Parent/Teacher conferences ? Provide curriculum updates to Learning Specialists to support ongoing education ? Attend weekly staff meetings ? Other duties as assigned Requirements ? Master's degree in Education or related field ? At least 3 years of lead teaching experience in applicable grade level a plus ? Developmental knowledge of and experience with elementary aged children ? Experience developing and revising curriculum with an integrative approach ? Willingness to work in close collaboration with colleagues, children, and parents ? Familiarity with progressive teaching practices, including inquiry and research-based instruction, experiential teaching, and lesson development ? Commitment to creating a culture of equity and inclusion in the classroom and throughout the school community ? Effective and responsive classroom management skills ? Strong communication skills (written and verbal) City and Country School offers a competitive compensation package, commensurate with level of experience and qualifications plus benefits. This position has a salary range of $74,295 - 95,940 per year. This full-time bargaining unit position is in-person five days per week at the school's campus in Manhattan's West Village.
