Please make sure to complete an application by clicking here for this job posting. SUMMARY Teachers are responsible for educating and fostering the growth of the students enrolled at Niagara Charter School.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintain and enrich their expertise in the subject area they teach Develop lesson plans that ensure the attainment of Common Core Learning Standards and the additional specific grade-by-grade learning standards set forth in the charter Coordinate lesson plans with other teachers to maximize possibilities for teaching similar topics in the same general time frame, thus reinforcing student knowledge on an interdisciplinary basis Provide direct and indirect instruction Create long and short-term planning addressing individual needs of students Prepare students adequately for all required assessments Evaluate students' progress Prepare monthly individual student achievement reports for parents Provide an inviting, exciting, innovative, learning environment Engage in effective and appropriate classroom management Serve as advisors to students Meet IEP regulations As applicable, directs teacher assistants in working with small groups of children and works together with teacher assistants to address individual needs of students. Communicate and work effectively with parents Work effectively as a team member Adapt to individuals' specific needs Adapt to differences and changes in characteristics of students, programs, leadership, staff, and community Expertise in the subject to be taught, as evidenced by personal skills and knowledge Effective communication skills Ability to engage the interest of young children Ability to work with diverse student population, including those with special needs Ability to evaluate tests and measurements of achievement Willingness to be held accountable for student results
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree upon hire, but Master's Degree required in accordance with NYS Regulations State Teaching Certification and other credentialing as required by the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act 1-3 years of teaching experience in a public or private school, preferably in an urban setting is preferred CPR and AED certification (training provided by Niagara Charter School)
