- Part-time Third Grade General Studies Position Available at Derech HaTorah of Rochester September 2026 Derech HaTorah , a growing private school located in Rochester, NY, is seeking a dynamic, talented third grade teacher to join our general studies staff.
Our Openings We are looking to hire a third grade general studies teacher for the coming school year. This will be a half-day position, but can be combined with one of our other openings into a full time position. Please find the job description below. The ideal candidate for this position would be an energetic and capable teacher with a strong passion for elementary school education. They will demonstrate the ability to teach a variety of different types of learners, a willingness to collaborate with a community of educators, and the ability to make a strong contribution to a growing school. Third Grade General Studies The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following skills: Ability to teach a third-grade class, including Mathematics, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies Strong knowledge of elementary instructional best practices and child-centered pedagogy Deep understanding of child development and a commitment to fostering independent, self-motivated learners Passion for working with elementary-aged students and creating joyful, engaging learning experiences Warm, nurturing presence and genuine love of children Commitment to constructivist learning, collaborative inquiry, and student-centered instruction Ability to collaborate with colleagues in curriculum development, planning, and implementation Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong partnerships with students, parents, and colleagues Inspires confidence, curiosity, and character in young learners Demonstrates strong leadership within the classroom and cultivates each student's unique strengths and potential Creates an inclusive, supportive classroom environment where all students feel known, valued, and challenged Reflective practitioner who embraces continuous growth, innovation, and professional learning Education and experience: Undergraduate Degree, and ideally, teaching degree 2-3 years of teaching experience preferred, not required.
