An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Job Description

Discovery School is a private International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP) School in Mansfield, Ohio. We are seeking an Elementary Homeroom Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and managing a class of elementary students using an inquiry-based approach to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach and manage a class of elementary students using an inquiry-based approach and the IB PYP framework. Develop and implement a student-centered and differentiated curriculum that meets the needs of individual students. Create a positive and supportive classroom environment that promotes student learning, social-emotional development, and cultural understanding. Assess student progress using a variety of assessment strategies and communicate student progress to parents and colleagues. Collaborate with other teachers and school staff to support student learning and development. Participate in school-wide events and initiatives, including staff meetings, professional development, and parent-teacher conferences. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and attendance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education or related field. Ohio teaching certification preferred. Experience teaching in a elementary classroom preferred. Knowledge of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program framework preferred. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Commitment to student-centered and inquiry-based learning. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
