The teacher creates fun and engaging lessons that help students build strong skills in reading, math, writing, science, and character. The ideal teacher loves working with children, keeps a structured classroom, and believes every student can succeed in a faith-based school focused on excellence. Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Classroom Leadership Plan and teach engaging lessons for 5th grade students Create a positive and organized classroom environment Help students build strong skills in reading, writing, math, science, and critical thinking Set clear expectations for behavior and classroom routines Encourage teamwork, responsibility, and a love of learning Keep the classroom safe, clean, and welcoming Student Growth & Support Support students' academic, social, and emotional development Monitor student progress through classwork, assessments, and observations Provide extra support or enrichment when needed Keep accurate records of grades and student progress Family Communication Build positive relationships with parents and guardians Communicate regularly about student progress and classroom activities Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events Share resources to help families support learning at home Faith & Character Development Incorporate faith-based values and character education into daily learning Model kindness, integrity, professionalism, and respect Support the mission and values of Drexel Academy Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities Work closely with teachers, staff, and school leadership Attend staff meetings, professional development, and school events Follow all school policies and procedures Maintain high academic and professional standards Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's Degree required (Education or related field preferred) Valid teaching certification preferred or willingness to obtain Experience teaching elementary students, especially upper elementary grades Strong classroom management and organizational skills Excellent communication and relationship-building skills Passion for helping students learn and grow Preferred Skills Experience in a faith-based or private school setting Ability to differentiate instruction for different learning styles Knowledge of upper elementary literacy and math instruction Experience using positive behavior management strategies Why Join Drexel Academy?
