An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY
- Plan, teach, and evaluate instruction for students .
- Work with students in classroom settings.
- Meet and instruct students in the locations and at the times designated.
- Use positive verbal and non-verbal skills that enhance learning.
- Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information concerning students, staff, or parent/guardian in all public settings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by program/building administrator(s) in accordance with school policies and practices.
- Follow lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students
- Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment
- Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student
- Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, on the playground and in the cafeteria
CLIENT'S REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- Ability to comply with written and or oral instructions
- Ability to create an efficient working relationship with other personnel
- Proficiency in maintaining efficient classroom management skills
- Willingness to stand for most hours of the day, or sit for extensive periods of time
- Full capability to give instructions in the absence of the "main" teacher
