Job Description

Elementary Advisory Teacher Oregon Charter Academy 2026-2027 School Year 201 day, 10 month/full-time Home-Based, Oregon School Summary Oregon Charter Academy (ORCA) is a virtual public school serving students in grades K-12 throughout the state. Teachers at ORCA are student-focused, adapting to meet students' educational needs through personalized learning using our high-quality curriculum and the teaching of 21st-century skills. ORCA is authorized by the Santiam Canyon School District and governed by its independent charter school board. The school has been in operation since 2005 and is accredited through Cognia. Position Responsibilities Working primarily from home, the Elementary Advisory Teacher serves as the primary advisor and point of contact for newly enrolled K-5 students and families. This position leads onboarding systems, supports early and ongoing student attendance, provides Canvas orientation, and monitors engagement data. The advisor proactively connects with unengaged and chronically absent students.
The Elementary Advisory Teacher will:
Serve as the initial point of contact for newly enrolled elementary families, maintaining consistent and transparent communication throughout their onboarding experience. Coordinate and schedule teacher welcome calls. Encourage and monitor completion of asynchronous onboarding modules. Conduct live onboarding sessions covering daily routines, Canvas navigation, learning coach expectations, and attendance requirements. Assist students in accessing and completing initial i-Ready diagnostic assessments. Promote assessment integrity by guiding families not to assist during diagnostics. Coordinate live reading assessment. Excuse assignments in Canvas up to start date. Support students in earning attendance immediately, including prior to device arrivals. Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administration to reduce chronic absenteeism. Monitor and maintain daily attendance, engagement dashboards, and onboarding trackers; document outreach and intervention efforts to identify trends and drive system improvements. Maintain regular, transparent communication with families and provide updates to administration. Assume classroom teaching role if enrollment numbers justify the need; additional classroom support, as needed. Compensation Package Click here to review the salary schedule for this position. Position Requirements Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred. Current Oregon teaching license with proper certifications/endorsements. Elementary endorsement preferred. Strong technology skills. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Student-focused approach. High degree of flexibility. Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. Willingness and ability to travel on occasion. Ability to work remotely. Ability to work occasional evening hours, as needed.
