We are a faith-filled school committed to educating the whole childacademically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Our Kindergarten program is a childs first experience of formal education, and we are looking for a teacher who can create a classroom that is structured, nurturing, and joyful.
Position SummaryThe Kindergarten teacher will design and lead a developmentally appropriate classroom that builds early literacy, foundational math skills, and social-emotional growth. This teacher will foster independence, curiosity, and a love of learning while helping students successfully transition into school.
Key ResponsibilitiesCreate a safe, welcoming, and structured classroom environmentDeliver instruction aligned with early childhood best practices and the Science of ReadingUse hands-on, play-based, and differentiated instructional strategiesSupport social-emotional development through consistent expectations and languageMonitor student progress using observation and assessment toolsCommunicate regularly with familiesCollaborate with colleagues and support staffUphold the mission and values of Saint Joseph SchoolQualificationsBachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (Masters preferred)RI teaching certification (or ability to obtain)Experience working with young childrenStrong understanding of early literacy, UFLI, and foundational math instructionAbility to meet a range of learning needsPreferredJoyful, patient, and flexibleStrong classroom management rooted in relationshipsCollaborative and growth-mindedFamiliarity with or interest in the Reggio Emilia approach, including child-centered, inquiry-based learningWhy Saint Joseph School?
