PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provide emergent bilingual students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, linguistic, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
QUALIFICATIONS
EducationCertification:
Bachelor's degree from accredited university or college Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subjectlevel assigned
Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge core academic subject assigned General knowledge curriculum and instruction Read, write, and speak English and Spanish fluently Ability to teach the curriculum in both languages

Experience:
At least one year student teaching or approved internship
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Instructional Strategies . Develop and implement biliteracy lesson plans for the curriculum program assigned and show written evidence preparation as required. . Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations and differentiation for individual student differences and needs. . Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, dual language program model, and administrative regulations. . Plan and use appropriate and explicit language instructionallearning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment to support biliteracy development. . Conduct ongoing assessments student achievement through formal and informal testing for linguistic proficiency and academic achievement in all content areas and both languages, English and Spanish. . Serve as a member the LPAC and assist with making the determinations required regarding placement in and reclassification from the bilingual programs. Communicate regularly with the LPAC regarding the academic and linguistic progress current and former emergent EB students. Provide supportguidance with the recommendations state and local assessments. . Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curriculum as needed for special education studentsemergent bilingual according to guidelines established by Individual Education Plans (IEP). . Cooperate with other members the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements and in alignment with the goals the dual language Elementary BilingualDual Teacher Job Description bilingual program. . Use explicit language strategies to support biliteracy development in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in all core areas to build concepts and content-based knowledge (i.e.: preview-view-review, cross-linguistic connections, El Dictado...). . Use effective instructional strategies that include rigorous learning, higher-order thinking questioning, hands-on activities, critical thinking, oracy strategies, project-based learning, and scaffolding. . Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides(s) andor volunteer(s). . Use biliteracy development instructional technology programs in the teachinglearning process. Student Growth and Development . Assist students in analyzing and improving methods and habits study. . Consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal assessments (biliteracy). . Engage students through cooperative learning based on cognitive and linguistic skills using differentiated strategies to maximize on-grade level learning, regardless their level. . Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and may sponsor outside activities approved by the school. . Present a positive role model for students that supports the mission the school district. Classroom Management and Organization . Create a classroom environment conducive to bilingual, biliteracy, and multicultural learning that is appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development students. . Manage student behavior in the classroom and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and IEP. . Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. . Assist in the selection books, equipment, and other instructional materials. Communication . Establish and maintain open lines communication with students and their parents. . Actively engage in the creation and implementation a school-wide plan that addresses the development socio-cultural competency and elevates biliteracy among all stakeholders. . Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members. . Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Professional Growth and Development . Post and communicate program goals to students and families and elevate biliteracy among all stakeholders. . Provide feedback on biliterate curriculum and resources aligned to best practices and align to the goals of dual language immersion. Elementary BilingualDual Teacher Job Description . Keep informed and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers. . Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. . Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Other . Perform any other duties assigned.

Supervise assigned teacher aide(s) if appropriate.
