An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Full-time Duties:
- Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons to elementary school students.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Implement curriculum guidelines and develop lesson plans.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support as needed.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a comprehensive educational program.
- Utilize classroom management strategies to maintain a productive learning environment.
- Provide support to students with special education needs or learning difficulties.
- Incorporate early intervention strategies to address academic and behavioral challenges.
- Foster a love for reading and promote literacy education.
Skills:
- Patience and a passion for working with children.
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt to last minute changes.
- Strong behavior management skills.
- Strong classroom management skills to create an organized and productive learning environment.
- Knowledge of special education practices and strategies for working with students with diverse needs.
- Understanding of early childhood education principles and developmentally appropriate teaching methods.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders in the education process.
- Excellent written communication skills for creating lesson plans, documenting student progress, and communicating with parents.
- Proficient in proofreading materials to ensure accuracy and clarity of information.
- Familiarity with working with people on the autism spectrum, including implementing appropriate interventions.
