An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Candidate may start as a teacher apprentice or as a lead teacher, depending on circumstances. Must have a bachelor's degree (in any field) and have a strong presence with children. Certification is optional. Some experience with this age/grade level preferred. A strong presence with often challenging students is required. Must be coachable and be willing to implement Rise Academy's structured, direct instruction methods and curriculum. Starting salary is $42,000 for an apprentice or less-experienced lead teacher. An experienced teacher may start higher -- up to $47,000. Health insurance and retirement plans available.
