Their primary responsibilities include:
This position reports to the Director. Classroom Leadership Plan and deliver lessons aligned with Montessori principles, catering to the developmental needs of children (typically ages 2.5-6 or older, depending on the program); Create and maintain a prepared, organized, and engaging classroom environment with Montessori materials that promote hands-on learning; Observe and assess each child's progress, tailoring activities to their individual needs, interests, and abilities.
Student Guidance :
Foster independence, self-discipline, and respect by modeling positive behavior and guiding children through conflict resolution; Support social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through individualized instruction and group activities; Encourage exploration and discovery by presenting materials and lessons that spark curiosity.
Curriculum and Lesson Planning :
Develop and implement a curriculum that includes practical life skills, sensorial activities, language, mathematics, cultural studies, and creative arts, following Montessori guidelines; Adapt lessons to meet diverse learning styles and developmental stages while ensuring progression in skills.
Parent Communication and Engagement :
Communicate regularly with parents about their child's progress, challenges, and achievements through reports, conferences, and meetings; Educate parents on Montessori philosophy and methods to ensure consistency between home and school environments.
Administrative and Collaborative Duties :
Supervise assistant teachers, aides, or interns, delegating tasks and providing mentorship; Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and classroom activities; Collaborate with school administrators and other teachers to ensure program quality and adherence to Montessori standards.
Professional Development :
Stay updated on Montessori best practices through ongoing training, workshops, or certifications; Ensure compliance with licensing regulations, safety standards, and school policies.
Qualifications:
  • Prefered Early Childhood Education - Masters, Bachelor, AA, Certificate - Montessori Teaching Certification (AMS, AMI, NAMC, MINC, MACTE, or equivalent) a plus.
  • Experience working with children (ages 2.5-6) in a Montessori setting a plus. Strong understanding of child development and Montessori philosophy. Excellent communication, observation, and leadership skills.
  • Adult/ Infant/Child & Adult CPR (to be completed within one month of hire)
  • First Aid (to be completed within one month of hire)
  • HIV/ Blood-borne Pathogen (to be completed within one month of hire)
  • Food Worker Card (to be completed within one month of hire)
  • Childcare Basics (to be completed within 90 days of hire)
  • DCYF Portable Background check (to be completed prior to date of hire)
