Job Title:
Elementary Dual Language Teacher(Spanish) 4th Grade •This position will begin with the 2026-2027 school year, starting in August 2026•
Qualifications Required:
Valid Washington State teaching certificate Endorsement in Elementary Education Bilingual/Biliterate in Spanish Satisfactory evaluations Successfully clear criminal history check
Qualifications Preferred:
Endorsement (or willingness to obtain endorsement) in English as a Second Language (ESL), English Language Learner (ELL), or Bilingual Education.
REPORTS TO
Building principal and district superintendent.
Job Goal:
To plan and deliver effective, standards-based instruction in a dual language classroom that supports the development of biliteracy and academic success in both languages, while fostering a positive, inclusive environment that aligns with the districts vision and mission, values cultural diversity, and promotes student engagement and achievement.
Supervises:
Students and para educators as assigned. Deliver and assess instructional experiences in both Spanish and English, including curricular and co-curricular activities, in a 50/50 bilingual program tailored to students' academic and linguistic needs. Prepare for classes, maintain records, and participate in State, Federal, and District testing requirements. Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times. Promote high standards of classroom behavior and develop a classroom management plan aligned with school-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Foster a positive, inclusive, and multicultural classroom environment that celebrates biliteracy and global competence. Engage in professional learning and implement instructional strategies to support multilingual learners, including sheltered instruction and simultaneous literacy models where applicable. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and paraeducators, ensuring consistent communication about academic and behavioral progress. Participate in district-wide initiatives, school improvement efforts, staff meetings, and professional development activities. Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities, and assist in enforcing school rules and administrative regulations. Flexible, committed, collaborative, and effective communicator with a strong professional orientation. Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English (advanced fluency required; native Spanish speaker preferred). Familiarity with or willingness to learn language immersion models, Common Core standards in both languages, and English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS). Experience or willingness to work with diverse student populations, including gifted, special education, English learners, and students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Skilled in designing learning experiences and assessments that allow students to demonstrate applied skills in both languages. Proven ability to create a positive classroom culture, manage behavior effectively, and use data to guide instruction and support student progress. Passion for bilingual learning, multicultural education, and fostering student curiosity and social learning. Punctual, reliable, and committed to achieving district and state performance standards. Perform other related duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with district policies.
LIMITS OF AUTHORITY
Has authority over students and para educators as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Contractual agreement in accordance with WAC parameters of state laws and the negotiated agreement, the individual contract, district rules and regulations, and administrative directives.
LENGTH:
180 day work year.
SCHEDULE
7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
As determined by the Board of Directors, state law, local board policy and GEA bargaining agreement.
EVALUATION
At least annually on or before May 1st by the building principal or designee. New or probationary employees are evaluated more often as per state law, WAC's, GEA contract and district policy.
