An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Job Summary:
This position will be responsible for completion of the following items in addition to those listed in the Job Description (see above): Must meet one of the following requirements (documentation required at time of application):
Four-year degree from an accredited institution of higher education in the field of early childhood education or child development and two years of successful work experience; OR
A two-year or four-year degree in any field from an accredited institution of higher education, and at least thirty quarter units or equivalent semester hours in the field of early childhood education or child development with three successful, relevant, documented work experience in a preschool, child-care, or kindergarten setting; OR
A valid Washington State elementary education teaching certificate with an endorsement in early childhood education (pre-K•Grade 3) or special education with an emphasis in early childhood education with three successful, relevant, documented work experience in a preschool, child-care, or kindergarten setting; OR
Be on an approved Professional Development Plan (PDP) supported by the Community Colleges of Spokane ECEAP program.
Valid First Aid and CPR card (paid training available by the district).
Valid Spokane Regional Health District (SRHD) Food Worker Card.
Required to provide a negative Tuberculosis (TB) test or exemption letter.
Minimum age of 18 years old.
Successful WSP and FBI Fingerprint Clearance (fingerprints taken after hire and during initial onboarding).
I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act.
Completion of online workplace training within 30 days of hire.
