We have small class sizes (12 students max.) and expect teachers to identify each student's unique way and rhythm of learning and plan materials and activities accordingly. Our Elementary program is full-day and runs Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 3:00pm. We use a 50%-50% bilingual model; which means that half the day is in Spanish and half the day is in English. The Lead Spanish Teacher is responsible for teaching students in a mixed classroom (5th Grade and Kindergarten) for the academic year 2026-2027.
FULL TIME
7:30am-3:30pm. Duties and responsibilities
As Lead Teacher:
Study the curriculums we use and develop lesson plans for students in Kindergarten and 5th Grade in the following subjects: math, writing, reading, and STEMS (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Social Studies). Prepare educational material based on the curriculums and your own lesson planning. This entails searching, printing, laminating, cutting, etc. Differentiate learning for students in order to challenge, expand, and support each student's learning according to their development level. This entails planning for a wide range of skill levels in the same classroom. Observe and assess the development, interests, and motivations of each student to guide teaching and record child observations thoroughly. Create a safe and joyful environment for learners to take risks at their own pace, learn from their mistakes and successes, and be proud of their own processes as well as the results. Nourish the socio-emotional growth of students using our mindfulness curriculum (involves breathing exercises as a group). Encourage creative, comprehensive, and critical thinking. Participate in students play, ask questions, and be actively engaged in the classroom. Work with students to solve problems on their own and guide them through conflict resolution techniques as needed. Provide a worldwide context to the topics being taught.
As a team member:
Work collaboratively with co-directors and families to best support learners Be responsible of one classroom, ensuring student curriculum and emotional accomplishments Plan parent-teacher meetings twice a year and attend weekly meetings with co-directors Participate in ongoing training and be informed of current topics in education Write a weekly newsletter to parents summarizing what occurred in the week Take photos and videos of students to post on the secure, private page of our website Organize and decorate the classroom based to monthly themes Arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of the day to set up and clean up at the end of the day Proactively keep common areas clean and tidy (i.e. indoor playground, teacher's lounge)
Qualifications & Skills Required:
  • At least 2 year of teaching experience in a classroom setting
  • Have strong organizational and time management skills
  • Have initiative and a positive attitude
  • Good communicator and simplifier
  • Be a learner, open and flexible
  • B.
A or M.A in any field
Preferred:
  • Experience with STEAM and/or project-based learning.
  • Experience with Montessori Math.
Physical requirements The job may be physically demanding, as it may entail standing for extended periods of time, lifting heavy objects on a regular basis, and doing repetitive tasks with few breaks.
