Job Description

Full Time Seasonal, Non-Tenure Track (NTT): Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Professor of the Practice in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) seeks exceptional candidates for full-time seasonal, non-tenure track term faculty appointments in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering with a duty location of Monterey CA. Secret security clearance is required. The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites applications from exceptional candidates for open-rank faculty appointments. Highly qualified candidates are sought who are extremely motivated to contribute through excellence in teaching, scholarship, and graduate student mentorship in a defense mission-driven environment. Appointments may be made at any academic rank, commensurate with qualifications, experience and institutional needs. Responsibilities (commensurate with rank) may include teaching, advising/mentoring, developing a scholarly and/or externally supported research program, curriculum/lab development, and service. Applicants are encouraged to apply from across the breadth of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. This position is "Open Until Filled," with an initial review of applications beginning on May 30, 2026 . To ensure ongoing consideration, subsequent cut-off dates will occur every 30 days thereafter. Areas of particular interest include (but are not limited to): Astronautical / Space Systems Engineering Naval Ship Design, Marine Engineering, and Ship Systems Integration Solid Mechanics, Structural Dynamics, and Structures Candidates whose expertise complements existing strengths and expands the department's graduate curriculum are also encouraged to apply. NPS is an educational institution within the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD). It is located on the coast in Monterey, California, about 140 miles south of San Francisco. NPS awards graduate degrees in sciences, engineering, national security, computer science, operations research, and management. Students include U.S. and international military officers from all services, as well as federal employees.
