Shape the Future of Bioengineering at Notre Dame The University of Notre Dame invites applications for an Associate or Full Professor in the broad field of Bioengineering. We seek an innovative and accomplished researcher whose work bridges biology and engineering and who is excited to build a high-impact research program addressing some of the most important challenges in human health, biotechnology, and society. . The search is intentionally interdisciplinary, bringing together faculty from the Departments of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences. This collaborative structure provides an opportunity to develop research partnerships across disciplines. We are particularly interested in researchers whose work is advancing the frontiers of bioengineering in areas including: Tissue Engineering, Disease Models, and Stem Cell Research Developing innovative approaches to understand, model, repair, and regenerate biological systems and address complex diseases. Diagnostics, Devices, and Distributed Health Creating innovative diagnostic technologies and biomedical devices, particularly those that expand access to healthcare and address the needs of rural, remote, and distributed healthcare settings. Emerging Frontiers in Bioengineering Exploring new applications including areas such as space bioengineering, biocomputing, and other emerging technologies. We welcome candidates whose research extends beyond these areas and who bring new perspectives, technologies, and opportunities for collaboration to Notre Dame. We are looking for a scholar who will not simply participate in Notre Dame's bioengineering community, but help shape its future.

Candidates should demonstrate:

A strong and sustained record of scholarly achievement in bioengineering or a related discipline. A research portfolio demonstrating meaningful contributions at the intersection of engineering and biology. The potential for national and international distinction. A record of, or strong potential for, developing an externally funded research program. Excellence or demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate and graduate education. A commitment to interdisciplinary research and collaboration. A willingness to contribute to the broader research and academic community.

Qualifications:

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in engineering or a related discipline and have an established, independent research program at the intersection of engineering and biology. Successful candidates will have a sustained record of research excellence, scholarly achievement, and external funding, as well as demonstrated leadership and contributions to their field. This search is limited to candidates at the Associate Professor or Full Professor level.
