Job Summary:
The Adjunct Faculty Instructor for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) provides specialized subject matter expertise. This position requires the instructor to teach courses, adhere to lesson plans, meet course objectives, begin and end courses on time as scheduled, and maintain academic integrity and professionalism. Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to: Managing and supervising students in all assigned classroom and laboratory activities, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment. Providing timely updates to students regarding course content, requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance expectations. Innovating, revising, and endorsing curriculum improvements that align with the objectives of the program and enhance student learning experiences. Ensuring that each program/class meets the WSU Tech Course Standards and incorporates all pertinent curricular components, utilizing effective teaching methodologies and reflecting current industry practices. Maintaining an effective learning environment across various instructional modalities.
Requirements Education:
Associate Degree or higher in a related field, preferred.
Required Certifications & Experience:
FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification required. Proven experience in UAS operations, maintenance, and safety procedures. A minimum of 2 years' experience in UAS or aviation-related field, required.
Preferred Experience & Skills:
Experience in instructional design and teaching at the post-secondary level, preferred. Proficiency in operating various types of UAS and associated software. Strong knowledge of FAA regulations concerning UAS operations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, including the ability to engage with students and faculty in a professional manner. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
