Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Mid-America University seeks a full-time faculty member with in-person and online teaching experience in the instruction of undergraduate courses and program coordination in the School of Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics. The applicant must possess a strong Christian background. MACU seeks those who value teaching students and wish to contribute fully to the life and mission of the University.
  • Position Begins August 1, 2026 or sooner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach full-time in the School of Engineering, Mathematics and Physics. Lead the development of and teach courses at the undergraduate level in a general engineering program. These will include the basic engineering science courses such as Introduction to Engineering, Statics, Dynamics/Rigid Body Dynamics, Thermodynamics, and Electrical Science. Advanced courses include. but are not limited to Fluid Mechanics, Mechanics of Materials; Materials Science; and Systems Engineering. Develop program and course level outcomes and assess those outcomes on a regular basis, making changes as needed. Recruit, schedule, advise, and mentor students with the goal of spiritual growth, as well as academic and professional success. Interact with other educational entities, community partners, and businesses to ensure the program meets the needs of the community. Assist with the establishment of partnerships that provide opportunities for internships, capstoneexperience, and job opportunities for students. Participate in fundraising activities for program needs and scholarships. Provide quality instruction by following the department's course syllabus, grading assignments, and tracking attendance. Coordinate course revisions as requested. Respond and effectively communicate with School and University Leadership. Utilize current technologies and incorporate current topics as they relate to course materials. Other pertinent duties as assigned by School or University Leadership Schedule and maintain a minimum of ten (10) office hours a week. Participate in all University required trainings. Meet all University requirements and expectations as stated in the Faculty Handbook and otherwise stated. Attend and participate in chapel services as required, supporting the University's mission and contributing to the spiritual life of the campus community. Hours worked

  • required meetings include university wide faculty/staff meetings, academic affairs meetings, school faculty meetings each month as well as chapel twice a week. Office Hours

QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills to work effectively with individuals and groups. Must be flexible in scheduling, which may include evening courses. Demonstrate evidence of a strong faith walk. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Required:
Master's degree in an Engineering Discipline or closely related field with at least 18 credit hours of graduate work in engineering or related fields
Preferred:
Preference will be given to candidates who have some-or-all of the following: Doctorate in Engineering or closely related field Professional Engineering certification or other relevant certifications Teaching experience in higher education Grant writing experience Coding experience Industry experience Supervisory experience Willingness to teach courses in related fields such as Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science
COMPUTER SKILLS
CAD/CAT and other Engineering Design Software Microsoft Office/Google Suite Will be trained in
