Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering (start fall 2027)
Reports To:
Program Director of Engineering,Dr. Carl Olimb Position Summary The Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering is a tenure-track facultyposition responsible for teaching undergraduate courses and laboratories in electrical engineering and related areas within the B.S. inEngineering program. The faculty member will contribute to curriculum development, lecture and laboratory instruction, and student designprojects while supporting the growth of a new engineering program seeking ABET accreditation within a liberal arts environment. Theposition includes responsibilities in teaching, scholarship, and service consistent with the expectations of faculty at AugustanaUniversity. The faculty member will contribute to the development of an ABET-aligned engineering curriculum and will participate in programassessment and continuous improvement activities. Primary Responsibilities Teaching Teach and create undergraduate courses and laboratories in electrical engineering and related areas such as circuits, electronics,digital systems, or instrumentation. Contribute to introductory engineering and interdisciplinary engineering courses asneeded. Develop and implement laboratory experiences that support hands-on engineering education. Mentor undergraduatestudents in design projects, including capstone design experiences. Advise undergraduate students in the engineering program. Program Development and Assessment Contribute to the development and implementation of theengineering curriculum. Participate in program assessment and continuous improvement activities consistent with ABET accreditationstandards. Assist with development of laboratory infrastructure and instructional equipment for electrical engineering courseworkwith the intent of ABET accreditation. Scholarship Maintain a habit of scholarship accordingto Augustana's tenure expectations. Engage undergraduate students in research, design, or applied engineering projects. Service Participate in service activities within the department, college, university, and broaderprofessional community. Contribute to outreach and engagement with regional industry and community partners related to engineeringeducation. Support activities that strengthen the engineering program and its connections to the liberal arts. Required Qualifications Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineeringdiscipline. Academic or industry experience aligned with appointment at the Associate level. Demonstrated ability to teachundergraduate electrical engineering courses. Ability to contribute to laboratory-based and project-based engineeringinstruction. Effective written and oral communication skills. Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration within a liberalarts environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching in an undergraduate-focusedinstitution. Experience developing or teaching engineering laboratory courses. Experience mentoring undergraduate researchor design projects. Experience in preparing for/maintaining ABET accreditation
