Job Description:
The Industrial Maintenance Instructor will deliver approved curriculum, content, and assessments in an applied learning environment. Responsibilities for the Technical instructor include facilitation of activities and discussions that engage a range of learning styles with targeted guidance and demonstrated mentoring and teaching students real world applications. TheInstructor is responsible for performing all aspects of instruction for assigned program to include, but not limited to, implementing, revising, and evaluating assigned program area curriculum; utilizing all resources available to innovate and to change to meet evolving program and industry needs. The technical instructor provides up-to-date skills training and instruction to meet the learning needs of students. Th e Instructor will also interpret and administer assessments, and offer constructive feedback to support student growth and learning outcomes. A key part of the role is to integrate technology effectively to enrich the educational experiences. This role acts as an ambassador for their programs and Texas State Technical College.
Required Skills, Knowledge, Certifications or Licensure:
  • 3-5 years of verifiable professional experience may be accepted in lieu of other requirements as approved
  • Verifiable work experience with Industrial equipment
  • Strong Electrical/Programming skills
  • Working knowledge of Electrical Motor Control Systems, Electrical Motor Control Schematics, Maintenance of Industrial equipment and Mechanical Power Transmission systems Preferred Skills, Knowledge, Certifications and/or
Licensure:
  • Hands-on Plant Maintenance experience
  • Working knowledge of basic fluid power (hydraulic and pneumatic) systems
  • Working knowledge of basic PLC operation and programming
  • Working knowledge of programming electrical speed control systems (AC/DC Drives)
  • Working knowledge of basic machining and welding
  • Related teaching, training or mentoring experience

Deliver high quality instruction and facilitate the learning of students. Organize daily classes utilizing a variety of creative/innovative techniques. Tailor teaching methods to diverse learning styles and needs.

Understand and empathize with student experiences. Provide personalized guidance and support. Articulate ideas clearly and foster open communication.
Assessment & Feedback :
Create and utilize assessments to provide constructive feedback and guide learning. Continually evaluating and improving teaching strategies.

Effective use of technology to enhance learning experiences.
Instructional Delivery :
Prepare and deliver high quality instruction and facilitate the learning of students. Develop appropriate course syllabi and instructional plans, and organize daily classes utilizing a variety of creative/innovative techniques.
Instructional Management :
Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, equipment security where applicable, and ensure opportunities for student/participant evaluation.
Student Retention & Placement :
Perform student advisement such that students are provided with timely, accurate, and comprehensive information. Collaborate with the Office of Student Success to ensure students receive current information on tutoring and other programs designed to increase retention.
Program Recruitment & Promotion :
Participate in related tours and recruitment events. Assist in department/program planning for recruitment.
Teamwork & Service:
Demonstrate a willingness to be of service and exhibits pleasant and courteous behavior toward customers (students, parents, employers, and media), organizational coworkers, and other general public contacts. Maintain flexibility, including availability for evening, weekend, or summer assignment, as appropriate, able to work effectively in a team environment, and be committed to the mission, vision and values of the college. Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Verifiable and demonstrated experience required
