The Interdisciplinary Studies Program invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach courses in vocation at the undergraduate level.

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of adjunct faculty are to: Deliver instruction in the manner determined by the department in, but not limited to

Introduction to Contemporary Christian Ministries, MIN 300-Writing 3: Culture and Ministry, and VOC 450-Interdisciplinary Internship. Course Descriptions can be found in the APU Catalog at: http://catalog.apu.edu/undergraduate/liberal-arts-sciences/interdisciplinary/#coursestext Preparation of syllabi in compliance with the APU Faculty Guidelines for Undergraduate Course Syllabi. Complete an Individual Development Educational Assessment (IDEA) for each course taught. Determine student mastery of material and assign final course grades from evaluation of tests, quizzes, homework, and other assignments and activities related to course material. Submit grades according the University procedures and deadlines. Adhere to the policies and regulations of Azusa Pacific University as set forth in the Adjunct Contract. In addition, faculty responsibilities may include: Being available to students outside of classroom hours via email or telephone for a set number of hours per week. Participation in departmental activities as identified by the department chair or program director. Responsible for daily electronic timekeeping as it applies to the scope of this position.

Qualifications:

Must have a master's or terminal degree in the field of Education, Leadership, Psychology, Sociology, Theology, Liberal Arts, or related disciplines Preferred experience includes teaching at the college or university level. Preferred work experience in Christian Higher Education, Career Development, Vocational Pastoral Ministry or related fields. The ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds. A demonstrated, vibrant Christian faith compatible with the mission of Azusa Pacific University.

Workload:

Assigned teaching duties will not exceed 9 units per semester; office hours and additional duties may be assigned. Total workload will not exceed 29 hours per week, nor 24 units per 12-month period.

Mental Demands:

Ability to integrate Christian values in all aspects. Ability to engage in critical thinking and exercise independent judgment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage confidential information. Self-starter, ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.

Compensation:

$25.32 - $27.32/hour. Adjuncts are paid on an hourly basis and the rate will be determined by qualifications and experience.
