Job Description

We are a small girls' high school in the UTC area dedicated to empowering young women through rigorous, engaging, and meaningful education. We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Journalism Teacher to join our committed faculty team. The instructor will teach high school Journalism to motivated students in a small-class setting, helping them develop strong writing, reporting, interviewing, research, and media literacy skills. The ideal candidate will inspire students to become thoughtful storytellers, ethical journalists, and effective communicators. Responsibilities include planning and delivering instruction in journalism, news writing, feature writing, interviewing techniques, media ethics, and publication production. The teacher may also advise student publications and media projects while providing meaningful feedback on student work. Class sizes are small, allowing for individualized attention, mentorship, and collaborative learning. Class times are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:50 a.m. - 9.30 a.m. A Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Media Studies, Education, or a related field is required. A teaching credential and/or prior classroom teaching experience is preferred. Professional experience in journalism, communications, publishing, or media is highly desirable. Candidates who are passionate about writing, media, and empowering young women to find and use their voices are encouraged to apply. $80.00 - $100.00 per hour
