Academic Assistant II - Writing, Reading, Speech Academic Assistant II - Writing, Reading, Speech The College of DuPage is a comprehensive community college located 27 miles west of downtown Chicago, vitally connected to our local area for over 50 years. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
To provide academic assistance to students in the Writing, Reading, Speech Assistance Area of the College of DuPage. Academic Assistant II will offer presentations in classrooms or online. Provide writing, reading, and public speaking assistance to students in all academic disciplines taught at the College of DuPage, in-person and online. Provide in-class and online orientations on WRSA services. Conduct and/or create workshops on various writing, reading, and speech topics to be presented in classrooms or through webinars. Consult and serve as a resource to other academic assistants and peer academic assistants. Develop and/or participate in training on WRSA related topics. Maintain current and relevant knowledge in subject areas and general study skills.
Qualifications:
Education Bachelor's degree in a related discipline required. Experience Experience teaching or providing academic assistance required. Experience presenting in groups required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including proficiency in spoken English required.
Working Conditions:
Fifteen (15) to twenty-five (25) hours per week during academic terms only (approximately 40 weeks per year). Some evening or weekend hours may be required. Up-to-date skills in relevant technologies. This position is subject to a background check and education verification at the expense of the College.
