POSITION SUMMARY
Teach one or more General Education English courses (composition or literature) during the 2026-2027 academic year on the main campus, online, or at one of the offsite campuses for an Early College program.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Master's degree in English or related subject area Previous teaching experience preferred with evidence of effective teaching
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate with the program manager to develop a syllabus. Effectively plan meaningful class activities and assignments to achieve curricular objectives. Fulfill adjunct duties as outlined in the Faculty Handbook. Communicate clearly and effectively.
Update Canvas regularly:
student work, notes, etc. Make course materials available to students on Canvas Interact with a variety of individuals in a courteous and fair manner. Manage time while keeping up-to-date on departmental and college policies, procedures, and practices in order to provide accurate information or assistance to students. Evaluate students' progress, and report outcomes. Promote an inclusive Rochester through demonstration of the Diversity Statement. Participate in developmental activities to increase understanding and awareness of issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion both individually and as related to one's field of work, profession or discipline. Support the University's mission: Indicators of this support include a demonstrated personal faith in Jesus Christ and being active in a local church. Promote the University's Ethos and employee Standards of Conduct.
