Position Description The Department of English at the College of Charleston invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor of English (First-Year Writing, FYW) for Fall 2026, with the possibility of renewal for Spring 2027. Position Description The successful candidate will teach 1 to 3 in-person sections (3 sections is considered full-time) of Intro to Academic Writing (ENGL 110), the College's foundational first-year writing course, which introduces students to academic writing, critical reading, and rhetorical analysis across a range of genres and contexts. Minimum Qualifications M.A. in English or a closely related field Demonstrated teaching experience Strong commitment to student-centered pedagogy and writing instruction Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching or assisting in first-year writing or composition courses Prior teaching experience at the college level Application Materials Letter of application Current CV, including contact information for two references About the Department The College of Charleston's Department of English offers undergraduate concentrations in literature and film; creative writing; and writing, rhetoric and publication.
