Qualifications Required Education & Experience:
Master's degree in English, Composition Studies, Rhetoric, Literature, or Creative Writing Teaching experience in a higher education setting (e.g. colleges, universities, etc.)Knowledge of:
Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook and Teams Current applicable developments, research and trends in the field Learning management systems and other appropriate instructional technologies (ex. ctcLink, Canvas, Starfish) English/Composition pedagogy at a wide range of levels Skill in: Conveying excitement and enthusiasm in teaching English/Composition Fostering a climate of belonging through awareness and responsiveness Teaching and developing coursework for in-person and online environments Effective oral/written communication with individuals at all levels inside and outside the College Adapting to a variety of teaching situations with students from diverse backgrounds/abilities Developing/modifying curriculum both collaboratively and independently Implementing inclusive pedagogy and evidence-based teaching methods Working and interacting effectively with colleagues, staff, students, administrators and others of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds Willingness to teach in more than one area of the program curriculumConditions of Employment Physical Work Environment:
The College offers both in-person and online services, with the option of some assignments to be completed in an online environment based on program or area needs. For remote (online) instruction, faculty will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. For on-campus in-person instruction, work is usually performed in a classroom space that requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Faculty typically use computers and media equipment in the work environment.Terms Of Employment/Salary:
Pro-Rata 80% of full-time load, non-tenure-track academic position 172-day annual contract beginning September 17, 2026 Salary placement determined by the number of qualifying years of teaching/work experience combined with the level of the related degree attained at an accredited institution Hiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President. PART-TIME FACULTY POSITIONS A
part time faculty member becomes eligible for benefits at the beginning of the second consecutive quarter of half time or more employment at one or more Washington state institutions of higher education. Spring and fall quarters are considered consecutive quarters for benefits eligibility. Half time is determined based on each institution's definition of full time. A part time faculty member must qualify each quarter they teach to maintain eligibility.
