full-time Company Description The Yupiit School District is a small but innovative district located on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta in Western Alaska, serving about 450 students in Akiachak, Akiak, and Tuluksak. Around 50 certified and 100 classified professionals collaborate to meet diverse educational needs in a close-knit, community-centered environment. The district offers a unique blend of Yup'ik culture and modern education, where students may learn in Yup'ik in the classroom and then use English fluently in the computer lab. Yupiit School District is committed to preserving cultural heritage while preparing students for success in the 21st century. Guided by Yuuyaraq as a foundation, the mission centers on ensuring all children can thrive and be happy in any environment. Role Description This full-time, on-site Teacher role is located in Tuluksak, AK. The Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons aligned with district standards and culturally responsive practices. Daily responsibilities include instructing students in core academic subjects, assessing student progress, providing feedback, and adapting instruction to meet individual learning needs. The Teacher collaborates with colleagues, families, and support staff to foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment. The role also involves participating in school activities, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to ongoing improvement of curriculum and instructional strategies. Qualifications Strong foundational knowledge in Education and experience in formal Teaching settings. Demonstrated ability in Lesson Planning and designing standards-based, culturally responsive instruction. Effective Communication skills for working with students, families, colleagues, and community partners. Experience in Training or mentoring learners, with the ability to support diverse learning styles. Relevant teaching certification or eligibility for Alaska licensure. Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field preferred. Ability to work in a rural, cross-cultural setting and willingness to learn about and honor Yup'ik culture. Strong classroom management skills and commitment to student wellbeing and academic growth.
