Secondary English Language Arts Teacher Job Summary Job Title:
Secondary English Language Arts Teacher Reports To:
School Principal Job Goal:
To implement an effective educational program for the appointed grade level and subject area(s) using the designated course of study, appropriate materials and resources, and best instructional practices.
Qualifications:
Holds a valid teaching certificate in Alabama with proper endorsement in teaching field Proficiency in oral and written communication skills Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board might find appropriate and acceptable
Performance Responsibilities:
Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, mission, goals, and priorities Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups Demonstrates competent knowledge of the structure of the academic discipline related to assigned subject-matter content areas Demonstrates competent knowledge of the Alabama Course Of Study locally developed curriculum guides related to the teaching assignment Anchors content knowledge in learning experiences that are meaningful and engaging Defines clear goals and objectives for unit daily lesson plans Provides accommodations, modifications, and/or adaptations to the curriculum Implements developmentally appropriate instructional strategies Utilizes ongoing formative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional plans accordingly Collaborates with other teachers to interpret and use student data for Instructional planning and program evaluation Administers all school, district, and state required assessments in accordance with required procedures Facilitates students' individual and collaborative use of technology to support learning Positively models the appropriate and responsible use of technology Uses technology to communicate, to plan and provide instruction, to facilitate student learning, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information Expects and responds to a broad range of student academic and behavioral needs in the classroom and provides accommodations to individual students as required Actively participates in collaborative professional learning communities to increase student achievement and grow professional expertise Actively engages in ongoing, continuous professional learning Uses and maintains confidential information in accordance with state and federal law and local Board policy Practices safe, responsible, legal, and ethical use of technology Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner Properly uses and cares for equipment and material resources of the school system Supports and complies with school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor(s)
Terms of Employment/Salary:
9, 10, or 12 months as assigned / To be determined, commensurate with local salary matrix, credentials, and experience.
