This is an excellent opportunity for a credentialed teacher looking for a high-paying, low-hour part-time position outside of the traditional school-day schedule. The role is especially well suited for current teachers, retired educators, substitute teachers, or experienced English instructors who enjoy helping students become stronger readers, writers, and communicators. Responsibilities Deliver engaging ELA and ELD instruction to middle and high school students. Teach students effective essay-writing strategies from brainstorming through final revision. Help students improve grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and academic writing. Provide clear and constructive feedback on essays and written assignments. Adapt lessons to students' individual academic levels and learning needs. Track student progress and identify areas for improvement. Create a positive, encouraging, and academically focused classroom environment. Communicate professionally with academy staff regarding student progress and instructional needs.
Qualifications Required:
Valid California Single Subject Teaching Credential in English Strong academic and essay-writing skills Excellent command of English grammar and written communication Ability to effectively teach middle and high school students Professional, dependable, patient, and encouraging teaching style
Preferred:
Experience teaching English Language Development (ELD) Experience working with English learners Middle school and/or high school classroom teaching experience Experience teaching academic writing, AP-style writing, or college-preparatory English Experience working in small-group or individualized instructional settings Schedule Applicants should be available for: Weekday afternoons and/or evenings Either Saturday or Sunday Approximately 3 hours per week initially Potential to increase to approximately 6 hours per week Exact teaching days and times will be coordinated based on student enrollment and instructor availability.
