Job Description
A+1 Academy is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Humanities Department Director to lead and develop our English and humanities programs. The ideal candidate must be fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese and able to communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and school administrators. Job Responsibilities Curriculum Development Develop and improve curricula for English, reading, writing, literature, history, and other humanities-related programs based on students' grade levels, academic needs, and school requirements. Academic Program Management Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of humanities courses, including school-subject support, Honors and AP courses, standardized test preparation, and academic enrichment programs. Teacher Recruitment and Training Participate in recruiting, interviewing, evaluating, and training humanities teachers. Provide instructional guidance and professional development to maintain consistent teaching quality. Teaching Quality Control Observe classes, review lesson plans and student feedback, monitor student progress, and provide teachers with constructive feedback and improvement plans. Student Assessment and Academic Planning Assess students' academic levels, recommend appropriate courses, and develop personalized learning plans based on their goals and areas for improvement. Parent Communication Communicate with parents in both English and Mandarin Chinese regarding students' progress, learning challenges, course planning, and academic goals. Department Coordination Coordinate teacher schedules, course materials, assignments, assessments, and departmental meetings. Work closely with the principal, academic team, admissions team, and other departments. Program Development Research educational trends and student needs, develop new humanities courses and programs, and support student enrollment and retention. Teaching Responsibilities Teach selected English or humanities courses as needed and serve as a model for high-quality instruction. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or above in English, Education, Literature, History, Social Sciences, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred; Fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese; Must be able to communicate professionally with Chinese-speaking parents; Strong knowledge of the
