March 2026 Position Summary The English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher creates a classroom environment that supports student learning, academic growth, and personal development. The teacher establishes effective relationships with students, parents, and staff while delivering engaging instruction aligned with district curriculum and Colorado academic standards. The ELA Teacher guides students in developing reading, writing, communication, and critical thinking skills. Instruction is designed to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students while supporting achievement of state and district standards. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum Delivery Guide the learning process toward achievement of state and district curriculum standards in English Language Arts Establish clear instructional objectives for lessons, units, and activities Develop and implement lesson plans that address the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and materials to support student learning Classroom Instruction & Student Assessment Meet and instruct classes at scheduled times and locations Maintain accurate attendance records and student documentation Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs Evaluate student academic and social progress and prepare progress reports as required Classroom Management & Student Safety Develop and maintain effective classroom procedures and behavior expectations Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment Take reasonable precautions to protect students, materials, and equipment Assessment & Record Keeping Administer district and state assessments in accordance with district testing programs and Colorado Department of Education requirements Maintain accurate student records and documentation in compliance with district policies and state regulations Collaboration & Communication Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and program information Work collaboratively with other professional staff to address student academic and social needs Participate in curriculum development and implementation initiatives Professional Responsibilities Maintain professional competence through district and self-selected professional development Participate in staff meetings, faculty committees, and school activities Support student activities and school initiatives as appropriate Other Duties Perform additional duties as assigned to support school operations and student success Minimum Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree required Licensure Valid Colorado Teaching License issued by the Colorado Department of Education Appropriate English Language Arts endorsement for the teaching assignment Experience Experience working with youth preferred Technical Skills Knowledge of English Language Arts curriculum and instructional practices Ability to differentiate instruction to support diverse learners Strong classroom management and student engagement skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to use educational technology and district instructional systems Licenses and Certifications Valid Colorado Driver's License required Supervisory Responsibilities No direct supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment This position primarily operates in a classroom and school environment . The teacher collaborates with other educators, staff members, and families to support student success.
