Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Secondary English Teacher to inspire and cultivate a love for literature, language, and effective communication among students. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop engaging curricula, foster critical thinking, and support students' academic growth in a vibrant educational environment. The ideal candidate will bring innovative teaching strategies, strong classroom management skills, and a commitment to student success. As a key member of our teaching team, you will contribute to creating an inclusive, stimulating classroom where students thrive academically and personally. Duties Design and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards that promote literacy, creative writing, and analytical skills. Develop engaging instructional materials utilizing learning technology and instructional design principles to enhance student understanding. Assess student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, and project-based evaluations; provide timely feedback to support growth. Foster a positive classroom environment through effective behavior management and classroom management techniques that encourage respect and collaboration. Mentor students individually or in small groups, providing academic advising, tutoring, and support tailored to diverse learning needs including special education. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, interdisciplinary projects, and school-wide initiatives to improve educational outcomes. Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavioral incidents while ensuring compliance with education administration policies. Requirements Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or related field; higher education teaching experience preferred. Proven classroom experience with secondary students in diverse educational settings; private school experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of curriculum development, AP style (Advanced Placement), proofreading, and copy editing. Familiarity with learning technology tools, standardized testing procedures, instructional design, and research methodologies. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage students effectively and collaborate with colleagues. Demonstrated organizational skills for lesson planning, classroom management, and record keeping. Ability to mentor students in journalism, creative writing, literacy education, and other language arts disciplines while fostering critical thinking skills. $44,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
